Easingwold Running Club was proud to host the York District Road Race League 10k on Tuesday 27th May. The series comprising of seven Tuesday evening events from April to July is contested by eleven clubs in the York area including ERC.
The event was held with the kind permission and cooperation of North Yorkshire and the Town Councils, Police and other emergency services, Easingwold Cricket Club and The Galtres Centre as well as the residents of the affected roads.
It has been held for a number of years with the start and finish in the lovely setting of Millfield Park on a pleasant overcast evening perfect for running.
This year saw a new Race Director with Ed Duffield taking over the role from Neil King who had set a high standard of organisation and safety over his years as RD. Ed had a steep learning curve but coped with the myriad of tasks needing to be done in the months leading up to the race and on the day itself. Backed by a brilliant team of volunteers composed of ERC members and community volunteers he did a great job and the race once again went off safely to universal acclaim by members of the league clubs.
Turning to the racing, 38 ERC members were able to run and the delayed start certainly didn't affect the performances of every single member of #teamERC. The results are now online at the York District Road Race League website.
First back for our team were Julian Ollive (14th Male) and Laura Tuley (24th Fem). Our men's team finished in 6th with Julian Ollive, Joe Dodsworth, Dave Todd, Brendan Anglim, Fegus McLanachan and Neil King while the ladies were 7th with Laura Tuley, Helen Spring, Georgina Robinson and Hannah Corner.
There were strong age group placings from Jo Hall, Steph Cooper, Sally-Anne Lardner, Pippa Hutton and Julian Ollive meaning we were 3rd Masters Team on the night, an excellent result. Well done to all ERC members who ran and put the local knowledge to good use.
ERC Members results can be found here.
Attention now turns to organising the Easingwold Community 10k which will be held alongside a Family Fun Day on the 27th July. This is on a different course with closed roads and a 10am start, entries are open to all and still available on line.
