Chair's weekly update

The club continues to thrive and provide a varied and interesting program for members. With Strength and conditioning on Monday, a base run with strides on Tuesday, novice 10k group on Wednesday and a club night away from base at York Sports Club on Thursday there is a lot on offer. It was fitting to remember and acknowledge the club is organised and run solely by a large team of volunteers during Volunteer week.

The weekend usually means more activity of course beginning as usual with many members taking in a parkrun at various locations including Easingwold's Millfield or volunteering to make the event happen. Last Saturday 39 members took part with 7 others volunteering at Millfield.

On Sunday it was the Lakeland Trails Coniston Marathon and ERC was represented by Emma Triffitt and Hannah Hilton. The event takes in a complete circuit of Coniston Water along footpaths and bridleways. Taking in the idyllic beauty spot of Tarn Hows and the elevated Beacon Tarn, the whole course gives panoramic views of Coniston Water and the surrounding peaks of the Old Man, Swirl How, Wetherlam and Dow Crags. Emma and Hannah acquitted themselves really well finishing in 153rd and 154th with times of just over 6hrs 40mins. Well done to both who are now taking a well earned rest.
