The snowdrops and crocuses have been and gone, the daffodils are dropping and now spring has officially sprung with blossom in full force. An ideal moment for another press release from Easingwold Running Club, so please read on.
As many residents of Easingwold and the surrounding villages know, Parkrun is your free weekly dose of communal exercise and an ‘in’ to the wonderful world of running. Have you taken part in a Parkrun recently? Have you taken part and completed a couch to 5k programme? Are you enthusiastic and keen to progress? Well if any of those answers are yes, why not ‘spring’ into action, test your limits and maybe surprise yourself. There is a world beyond 5k and it’s waiting for you! Next target… 10k? It may seem an impossible target for you, but ERC is here to help you along the way.
ERC are putting on a novice 10k runner’s course in the build up to our brand new Easingwold 10k event, coming to roads near you on Sunday July the 27th. If you can complete a 5k Parkrun in and around 40 minutes or less, this could be for you. On Wednesday 7th of May, The Olive Branch in Easingwold will host a meet and greet at 18:30 and for those who would like to take it further, a training programme starts a week later on 14th of May, running until 23rd July.
The course, a progressive training programme last for 12 weeks. Course participants are encouraged to train 3 times per week. Each week consists of 1 group session and contact time with John Howell-Walmsley, one of our established club coaches. John is the current ERC coach/leader of the year award holder, having been recognised for his efforts throughout 2024, so you’ll be in good hands. The other 2 sessions are prescribed and self-led. The course will culminated in participants taking part in the inaugural Easingwold 10k Race at the end of July.
If you like the sound of this and fancy coming to see what it’s all about, sign up here https://forms.gle/eH4rJXJuj1iSPv8h7 or scan the QR code, then come along to The Olive Branch on the 7th of May at 18:30. It would be fantastic to be able to support those of you who are up for the challenge.
