Easingwold Running Club Chairs update 1st April 2025

Members were pleased to see the back of training on dark nights and the wearing of head torches for another year as they returned to the Galtres Centre last Thursday evening after running. The club now has activities on three nights of the week with Strength and conditioning on Monday at Alne and runs of various kinds on Tuesday and Thursday mostly based at the Galtres Centre but also with trips away from base in various close-by locations.

As usual on Saturday many members were taking in a parkrun either as a volunteer or participant. Last Saturday saw 39 members at several locations around the UK.

Parkrun Volunteers at Millfield were - Michael BISHOP, Colin FLETCHER, Cheryl MCBROOM, Catherine SKINNER, Andrew THROUP, Claire THROUP, Joanne WHEELER, Bernie WOOD

Sunday saw the third race of the 2025 Club Championship competition. It was a bright, sunny morning for the Vale of York 10 mile held at Rufforth with an airfield start and finish, though a tad windy!

Well done to the 19 ERC runners who took part and also Stephen Daniel who participated in the 5 mile version.

Brendan Anglim was first man in for ERC and second in his age category. Daisy Fletcher was first woman for ERC, just missing the podium as 4th woman overall, and also second in her age category.

The Club Championship is scored on age corrected times and when Club Competition Secretary Emma Triffit had done the calculations it was Megan Remmer and Brendan Anglim who took the 50 points in the Women's and Men's Championship scores. Daisy Fletcher took 48 for 2nd with Nicola Convy 46 for 3rd. Ed Duffield and Mike Tranter took the 48 & 46 in the Men's. It's early days but after 3 events from 20 it's Ed Duffield in the Men's and Megan Remmer in the Women's leading the way in the Championship table.

The 1st of April marks the new membership year with most members having already renewed for another year with the Club. The membership is bigger than ever with the club going from strength to strength and fulfilling its role as a community running club. As well as many members being involved in Millfield parkrun and providing a Couch to 5k course there is the added excitement this year of organising a Community 10k with a family fun day on the 27th July in partnership with many businesses in the area. Last week the Club also announced a Novice 10k training course commencing on the 7th May. The aim of the course is to take people through to the 10k run in July. Head over to the club website for more details and sign up.
